Earring sensitivity can be an allergic reaction or skin intolerance to:

Sterling silver 925 (which is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5 % other metals)
9ct gold (which is 37.5% pure gold and 62.5% other metals)
Glues used to fuse components together in jewellery
Other factors
